Family and friends of South Woodford dance teacher Sasha Mcintosh will be nervously gathered around the television tonight to watch her perform on the X Factor in New York.

The 22-year-old has made it to the final six in the groups category of the ITV show with girl-band Xyra, and will be mentored by former Take That frontman, Gary Barlow.

Sasha’s mum Michelle Mcintosh, who works as a receptionist at Woodbridge High School in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, said: “All of the girls have worked really hard and I’m just so happy that they’ve made it this far.”

Sasha works for Pioneer Dance, teaching students around South Woodford. Her colleagues are ecstatic about her success on the hit programme so far, but not surprised.

Chantal Joseph, 33, the founder of the dance company, said: “Sasha is very ambitious and it’s amazing she’s on the show because she has the talent.”
