Kafka's Metamorphosis gets the stage treatment at Redbridge Drama Centre

An imaginative stage update of Franz Kafka’s classic Metamorphosis tale will delight audiences in Redbridge next Thursday (January 12).

The Redbridge Drama Centre in Churchfields, South Woodford, is hosting the production, guaranteed to please teenage audiences according to drama officer Jonny Siddall.

Kafka’s 1915 story tells of a travelling salesman who awakens to find himself transformed into a giant insect.

Touring professional company Scene Productions is using masks, puppetry and lighting effects to help its three-member cast bring the tale to life.

The Berkshire company has developed the production with the drama centre’s staff providing technical support for the hour-long play.

Mr Siddall said: “It’s particularly appealing to a teenage audience.

“It has lots of laughs and surprises and because it’s Kafka, it has a nightmare quality to it as well.”
