Relive a classic American comedy adapted for the stage, and the hilarious journey of two jazz musicians who dress up as women to escape being caught by gangsters.
Thistles Musical Theatre Company presents the musical adaptation of Billy Wilder’s 1959 Hollywood film classic, Some Like It Hot.
When the two musicians witness the 1929 St Valentine’s Day massacre in Chicago, their only escape from the mob is to join an all-girl band bound for Florida. Joe and Jerry become Josephine and Daphne and a legendary and hilarious chain of events soon ensues. Wilder’s film starred Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, with Marilyn Monroe.
Director Steven Day said: “I can’t wait for the musical to start, it has been really fun to direct. There is just so much cross-dressing and running away from gangsters in the show. We have stuck very close to the iconic film as it was so popular and we have included a real big band. The three lead characters are absolutely brilliant and really bring the show to life.
“Some Like it Hot is just one of the shows that is instantly enjoyable for everyone. The cast of 35 are all in beautiful and colourful 1920s outfits which compliment the fun script.”
