O’Neill’s Irish pub, Station Road, Ilford, is inviting residents to join its Guinness World Record attempt by Irish dancing alongside more than 10,000 people in bars around the UK.

At 8pm, people from all 49 O’Neill’s pubs will join to perform a short jig in the name of St Patrick.

If you do not see yourself as a particularly good dancer you need not worry, as participants will be shown a few dance moves prior to the attempt.

Manager Catherine Ferrissey said: “Every year we look at ways to celebrate our favourite event while also trying to give something back to the local community.

“This year sees our first ever world record attempt and we really want the people of Ilford to join us and have great fun at the same time.

“For those that can’t join us for the world record attempt, a live-stream will be available on the O’Neill’s website, and people can also upload video responses of their own jigs for the chance to win a bottle of whiskey.”

The legendary St Patrick’s day hats will also be available to buy with all proceeds going to Sunny Days Children’s Fund, Braintree.
