The European football championships has just been the beginning of what is set to be an amazing summer of sport.
Of course, London is home to some of the most famous venues in the world so if you're inspired to explore any of the sporting heritage on your doorstep we have a guide to the places to see.
Wembley
It may be the new stadium, but Wembley is still a magical place for football fans.
Live out childhood fantasies on a tour of the venue, which includes access to the England changing rooms and players' tunnel as well as climbing the trophy winner's steps to collect a (replica) FA Cup. Pretend you're Roy Hodgson by taking the manager's hot-seat in the press room.
Wimbledon
A tour of the hallowed tennis grounds provides an in-depth look at Wimbledon and the championships.
Meanwhile, the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum combines state-of-the-art interactive displays with a vast collection of memorabilia, exploring the story of the game and the Wimbledon championships from past to the present day.
Check www.wimbledon.com before visiting as opening times and access will be affected by the tournament taking place now and the Olympics.
Twickenham
Any rugby enthusiast ought to take a behind-the-scenes tour of Twickenham, the home of English rugby.
It is also home to the World Rugby Museum, which houses thousands of objects illustrating the roots and culture of the global game.
Visitors can marvel at the Wall of Fame featuring the best players to have appeared at Twickenham, and also test their strength against the scrum machine. See www.rfu.com for full visitor information.
Lord's
Take a tour of the 'home of cricket' and visit the MCC Museum, home of the famous Ashes urn.
The museum tells the story of 400 years of cricket, and features bats, balls and kit donated by players. Oddities include a stuffed sparrow killed by a ball in 1936. www.lords.org
