A Plaistow artist is in with the chance of a cash prize after her work was shortlisted in an exhibition.
Unfolding, a sketch by Linda Antalova, of Dacre Road, has been selected for the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2012.
The work has been described as dealing with ideas of construction and planning,
Ms Antalova added: “Using line as a simplified building block that evolves symmetrically into a complex structure, a form of spontaneous order is revealed.”
The Jerwood Drawing Prize is the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the country. Seventy-seven have been selected for exhibition at Jerwood Space in London from September 12 to October 28. It will then go on tour to venues across the UK.
The prizes, which will be awarded to the winning artists at a ceremony on September 11, range from £2,000 to £8,000.
