In a 244-year-old tradition, Charlotte Posner queued for hours for her work to be considered for the gallery’s summer exhibition.

‘The Theatre’, created with paint and ink on wood, was one of 600 pieces to get past the judges. It recently sold for £1,200.

Charlotte, of Loughton, said: “I didn’t think I would get this far this fast, it’s amazing to be part of something so historical.

“I love that the artists that inspire me were in the same exhibition.”

She studied art at three colleges and her work has been shown from Japan to Pakistan but she rates this as her biggest achievement.

She said: “I always wanted to be an artist, I’ve done it since school.

“My parents are in interior design and the colours and the fabrics of their shop always inspired me.

“From being brought up around materials and interiors I have found my own way to create.”

The shop, L Posner, is in George Lane. Charlotte’s work will be on display at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition until August 12 at Burlington House, Piccadilly.
