Adele’s record-breaking Grammy success caps a phenomenal rise to fame for the Tottenham-born singer - thanks in part to a “rubbish relationship”.
The singer has become a household name in the US and the UK, with her chart-topping second album, 21, inspired by the end of a romance.
Last night’s awards ceremony also marked a return to the live arena for the star’s troubled vocal chords, upon which surgery was recently performed.
A few bars of hit tune Rolling in the Deep suggested Adele has put the problems behind her.
Now Adele is rumoured to make her live UK comeback at the Brit Awards later, is now in another relationship - with bearded boyfriend Simon Konecki, 36, known as Swampy to his friends.
The 23-year-old recalled a deteriorating relationship which provided inadvertent inspiration to create the 21 album – which cleaned up at last night’s Grammy Awards.
“We’d just bicker over a cup of tea or the fact that my lighter wasn’t working,” the singer told Rolling Stone magazine, before adding: “He made me an adult and put me on the road that I’m travelling on.”
Adele may need to find a new source of inspiration. She vowed recently in a magazine interview she will “never” write a break-up record again as she is “done being a bitter witch”.
Rapper Professor Green has said he was only joking when he posted Twitter comments suggesting he was unhappy with his Made In Chelsea girlfriend Millie Mackintosh stripping down to her underwear for an advertising campaign.
