Daphne Wood proved to be the star of the show at Buckhurst Hill Bowls Club last week as she grabbed an impressive victory in the club’s ladies’ two-wood singles competition.
The weather was surprisingly kind for the one day event and it proved to be a competitive competition, overseen by eight of the male members who acted as markers for the matches.
In the end, it was Wood who saw off a fierce challenge from Barbara Langford in a very close final, while the plate competition final saw Susan Everitt overcome Barbara Friend in another excellent match, by just one shot.
