West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that Guy Demel has undergone a small hernia operation.
The Ivory Coast international has been out of action since the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on October 6 and the Hammers boss believes the 31-year-old will miss the next two weeks.
“[The players out injured are] not very close [to a return to training]. Guy Demel has had a smallish hernia operation,” Allardyce said.
“We hope that’ll keep him out for [only] a couple of weeks more.”
The Hammers boss also disclosed that Ricardo Vaz Te and Matt Taylor are still some way off returning to full fitness.
“Vaz Te’s shoulder [is still a problem],” he added.
“We’ve got a bit of a problem with Matt Taylor’s calf I think. They’re the ones in particular.”
