Many West Ham fans will be surprised at the player deemed the fastest during the clash with Arsenal
To many people, Andy Carroll may be considered a lumbering, giant centre forward of the old school, but it seems that the statistics do not bear out that theory.
The latest Premier League player performance stats from the Press Association actually have two West Ham players at the top of the tree following the clash with Arsenal at Upton Park.
And one of them is Carroll who was amazingly heralded as the fastest Premier League player!
Carroll reached the staggering speed of 10.49 metres per second at one stage in the game marking him out as the Usain Bolt of the Premier League for that weekend.
Also included in the statistics was Hammers star Mark Noble.
The midfielder led the way in ground covered while the ball was in play against the Gunners.
He managed 10,285 metres, which is around 6.4 miles as he chased the ball around Upton Park to try and get it off Arsenal’s much-heralded midfield.
He narrowly beat Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton to the crown, so it will be interesting to watch the pair of them running around after each other at Upton Park on Saturday.
