West Ham grabbed their first points of the season as they comfortably overcame managerless Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Here are how both sets of players rated:

Crystal Palace

Julian Speroni – 6

Couldn’t do much with the West Ham goals and didn’t do too much wrong.

Joel Ward – 4

Beaten all ends up by Stuart Downing on more than one occasion while playing in his unfavoured left back position.

Brede Hangeland – 5

Dealt with Carlton Cole well enough but was dragged out of position on numerous occasions.

Damien Delaney – 4

Wasn’t good enough at keeping Mauro Zarate quiet and was often pulled too far forward leaving space in behind.

Martin Kelly – 4

Given the nod at right back, Kelly tried to push forward but failed to keep Ricardo Vaz Te in his tracks.

Mile Jedinak – 4

Dominated by Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate, Jedinak needs help in there if he is going to be as impressive as last season.

Stuart O’Keefe – 4

A late call up after Joe Ledley pulled up in the warm up; the lack of preparation was evident.

Barry Bannan – 6

One of few players in the Eagles side who tried to get the ball down and play, although he often gave it away. Boos rang around the ground as he was subbed, aimed at Keith Millen.

Yannick Bolasie – 6

Palace’s best player, Bolasie at least tried to go forward and often beat his man before being fouled or wasted his delivery.

Fraizer Campbell – 4

Ineffective, nothing more to add. Subbed on 70 minutes.

Marouane Chamakh – 6

A few decent knock downs for his team mates to fire wide or over, Chamakh lead the line fairly well and scored a neat consolation.

Subs

Dwight Gayle – 6

Tried his best as usual but got nothing more than Campbell from the West Ham defence.

Johnny Williams – 6

Pulled some strings but the game was gone by the time he could make an impact.

Glenn Murray -6

Late sub.

West Ham

Adrian – 7

Nothing really to do for Adrian, but when called on the Spaniard helped out with minimum fuss.

Joey O’Brien – 7

Got forward impressively but Bolasie often got the better of him in the other half.

James Tomkins – 6

Booked for a rash challenge but overall impressed despite carrying a knock.

Winston Reid – 6

Similar to Tomkins, booked for a silly challenge but never looked in real trouble.

Aaron Cresswell – 7

Very impressive going forward and got little help in defence, looks a good signing.

Cheikhou Kouyate – 8

Physical, technically gifted and dominated the centre of the pitch.

Mark Noble – 7

Usual Mark Noble, kept the ball well and rallied the troops. A captain’s performance.

Ricardo Vaz Te – 7

Left Cresswell isolated at times defensively but was a constant thorn in Palace’s side.

Mauro Zarate – 9

Man of the match Zarate bossed the game. Dropping into midfield he found room and caused mayhem, resulting in a superb volleyed goal.

Stuart Downing – 8

Impressive again from Downing who has started the season well. Fooled Joel Ward time and again and scored a lovely second Hammers goal.

Carlton Cole – 7

Struggled to keep the ball up when West Ham were under pressure but produced a tidy finish to give the Hammers all three points.

Subs

Diafro Sakho – 6

Offered something different in attack and tested Speroni on more than one occasion.

Diego Poyet – 6

Late sub.

Mo Diame

Late sub.
