Transfer news: Sam Allardyce admits he is in the dark over West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame’s future amid intense speculation that the 25-year-old could leave before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

The Senegal international, who has a £3.5million release clause in his contract, has been strongly linked with Arsenal, as well as a host of other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Spurs and QPR.

Allardyce admits the situation can change from one hour to the next, making it impossible for him to predict what might happen.

But the Hammers boss did concede that Diame’s future is out of his hands.

“I’m as confused as everybody else with what’s happening,” he said.

“Whatever he says to me might change in an hour’s time.

“If Manchester United ring up in one hour’s time he’s not going to want to stay, is he?

“Doesn’t matter what he’s saying now, it can change between now and 11 o’clock on Thursday night in the flick of a text or an email or a phone call.

“As the situation develops accordingly there’s going to be the chance that we lose him. But we are trying not to.”
