O’s chief is confident things will turn around

Orient head for Swindon Town on Saturday still looking to open their points account for the season.

The O’s have lost their first three League One games, but manager Russell Slade is convinced it’s only a matter of time before they turn things around.

After Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Crawley, Slade held a team meeting in the dressing room.

“We have had an open and frank conversation in the changing room as to where we see it,” he said.

“And all of the group are in agreement of where we need to work and what we need to do to turn things around.”

And the O’s boss insists morale is still high.

“The group is together, the spirit is good, we just need that elusive first win,” he said.

Some of the Orient fans were unhappy at the end of the game and made their feelings known.

But Slade remained defiant and said: “Sometimes I think they have short memories.

“During the two-and-a-half years I have been at the club I have brought in £2.3 million and taken them to their highest finish in the league.

“Just now we are going through a transition and it would be nice if they could stay behind the team, because I am sure with the group we have got in there, we have got enough ability and talent to turn it around.”

With the team desperate to break their duck, a trip to Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon Town will not be easy.

The Robins suffered their first league defeat on Sunday when they crashed 4-1 at Preston and they will be looking to bounce back.
