Sky Bet League One preview: Leyton Orient v Notts County, 7.45pm
Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade insists his side cannot take Notts County’s league position into consideration ahead of tonight’s League One clash at Brisbane Road.
The O’s sit top of the League One table and are now the only side out of the 92 professional clubs in the country to boast a 100 per cent record after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City last night in the Premier League.
Their unbeaten record stayed intact thanks to Kevin Lisbie’s 88th minute winner in a 3-2 victory over Port Vale at Brisbane Road on Saturday, and Slade insists his side cannot afford to rest on their laurels or get carried away with their start as they prepare to face basement boys Notts County.
“Obviously the players want to enjoy this one first but of course we’ve got another one game coming up so they’re all important games if we want to maintain this momentum that we’ve got right now,” said Slade.
“You would rather be in this position than losing six of our first six matches every day of the week and there’s no danger about complacency. You’ve just got to embrace it and enjoy it and you can see that the players are really enjoying their football out there.”
The tie was re-arranged from September 7 after the game was postponed because of international call-ups for the visitors, but Slade knows tonight’s visitors have the capabilities of turning around their poor start, which has seen them pick up just one point of a possible 18.
“The international break has worked out great from them,” added Slade. “They didn’t get a positive result on Saturday but you look at them on paper and they are going to improve sooner rather than later.”
