Moses Odubajo’s winner against Colchester saw the speedy winger reach a career landmark.

It is the first time the 20-year-old has reached double figures.

Although he admits it is up there with the most important goals of his Orient career, Odubajo insists it does not matter who scores as long as the team is winning.

“It’s one of the most important goals I’ve scored for the club,” he said.

“I can’t remember much from the goal. I remember receiving the pass back from (Shaun) Batt and before I knew it I was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Luckily I kept my head.

“I never thought I’d reach that double figures landmark. As long as we do well, it doesn’t matter how many goals I score.”

Colchester provided stubborn opponents, belying their lowly position in the League One table.

Led by loan striker and former Orient stalwart Jabo Ibehre, the visitors kept things tight for long periods of the game at Brisbane Road.

Odubajo says this is something the players are going to have to get used to as they chase promotion.

He said: “Loads of teams have a set gameplan when they come here. You could see Colchester were trying to catch us on the break.

“It was a tough game but we came out with a big result.

“All the games from now until the end of the season are going to be hard. We dug in and it was a real team performance.”

Odubajo has been working on his finishing, and it is clearly paying off in the most prolific season of his fledgling career.

He said: “I always work on my finishing.

“My job is to pick up second balls off the strikers. If I’m in and around the strikers then hopefully I can create a goal or even score one myself.”
