Keeper could be back for Notts County clash

Goalkeeper Jamie Jones, who has yet to play a first-team game this season, could return for Friday’s vital home match with Notts County.

Four defeats in the last five games means that Russell Slade’s side are just five points off the relegation zone with six games left to play.

With on-loan goalkeeper Paul Rachubka’s loan spell set to end at the weekend, Slade could pitch Jones back into action – and he would become the sixth goalkeeper the O’s have used this season.

Jones has recovered from a shoulder operation and a wrist injury and Slade admitted: “Jamie could be in contention on Friday for sure.”

But the injury crisis that has dogged Orient for much of the campaign continues, as key defender Scott Cuthbert is out for the season with a hamstring injury and Leon McSweeney (calf) and Jamal Campbell-Ryce (ankle) are also ruled out of the Easter programme.

“Scotty (Cuthbert) picked up a nasty injury at Charlton and will be out for up to three months,” confirmed Slade.

“While Leon McSweeney and Jamal Campbell-Ryce are still a long way from it.”
