Motormen face short trip to Ilford
Redbridge captain Nikki Beale says his side are hoping tonight’s Ryman One North derby at Ilford beats the weather.
Motormen battled back from 2-0 down to draw at table-topping Maldon at the weekend, in one of only three fixtures to survive.
Jacob Cleaver’s brace earned Steve Portway’s side an unexpected point and Beale wants them to build on that against their local rivals this evening.
He said: “Hopefully we do get the match on, but we’ve got to have the right attitude.
“Ilford have only played two or three times in the past month and it would be good to get three points and start moving up the table.”
The fixture has fallen victim to a succession of postponements in recent weeks, mainly due to frozen pitches during the cold snap.
But after the thaw, some subsequent matches around the league have been called off due to waterlogged pitches.
And Beale hopes Motormen are not robbed of their momentum, adding: “It was a brilliant result really (at Maldon).
“We’re been struggling, but only lost 1-0 to Waltham Forest and Harlow and hopefully we can start turning those sort of games into wins.”
