Boss Ross mustering his troops for Tuesday night replay
Redbridge manager Dave Ross faces an uphill battle to get his squad together for tomorrow (Tuesday) night’s FA Cup replay at Sudbury following their 1-1 draw at Oakside on Saturday.
“We’ll need to leave by about 4.30,” said Ross. “The boys have their jobs, with some working up town and not finishing until 5.30. All these things have to be taken into consideration.”
He also has a couple of injuries to add to his problems, but is hopeful they will be fit. ”We have a couple of minor knocks, but I’m hopeful they will be available at Sudbury,” he said.
The Motormen’s manager saw good and bad in Saturday’s stalemate: “My main objective was to stop shipping goals, so I guess we did achieve that, with only a fluky own goal to Sudbury’s name,” he said.
“Nobody was to blame, I guess, it was a total fluke as far as I could see, but we didn’t take our chances when they came either.”
Ross has by no means given up hope on the cup though. “I guess some people will say we’ve missed our chance in losing the home game, and of course it will be tough going to Sudbury on a Tuesday night,” he added.
“But, we’ve just played them for 90 minutes at home and coped pretty well, so we must go there with the confidence that we can beat them at the second attempt.”
If Ross and Redbridge need any further incentive, the winners of the replay will have a home tie against Essex Senior League side FC Romania in the next round on Saturday, September 13.
FC Romania top their league table with maximum points from four games. They booked their place in the next round with a 2-1 home win against Heybridge Swifts of the Ryman League.
