Redbridge go into tomorrow’s home clash with promotion rivals Thurrock full of confidence after an impressive 3-1 victory at Wroxham last weekend made it four games unbeaten in all competitions.
And joint boss Dave Ross is targeting a Ryman One North play-off place at the end of the season after the Motormen hauled themselves into the top five with victory in Norfolk.
He said: “Things are going really well but we’re taking it one game at a time.
“We’re delighted with the form, but we’re expecting a tough game on Saturday - Thurrock are an excellent team with a good manager in Mark Stimson who has managed in the Football League.
“They will be up there at the end of the season so it should be an excellent game.”
Second half goals from Patrick Damali and Daniel Tenkorang did the damage against Wroxham after the opener from Redbridge’s captain Daniel Smith had been cancelled out.
VCD Athletic are 14 points clear at the top of the table but Redbridge, in fourth, are just two points behind second-place Witham Town.
After a slow start to the season which saw the Motormen lose three of their first four games, Ross believes their lethargy was down to a completely new squad from the 2012/13 campaign, with not one player retained.
Ross said: “We’re a brand new team so there were bound to be teething problems. We’re getting stronger all the time, but it’s realistic to be challenging for a play-off place. It’s going to be difficult but we want to be in that top five.”
After Saturday, the Motormen welcome Burnham Ramblers to Oakside on Tuesday in the league.
That is followed by a tasty trip to fellow promotion chasers Witham the following weekend.
