Redbridge boss Ross looking to halt Romford’s good run

Redbridge edged past Ware in a seven-goal thriller last night, and they make the trip to Ship Lane to face another one of the in-form teams in the shape of Romford.

A double from Daniel Francis and one each for Daniel Charge, who was later sent off along with Ware’s Lawrence Yiga, and Lewis Bentley helped seal the win, though they had to survive a late Ware comeback.

Errol Hassan had pulled one back to make it 2-1 but Francis’ double and Charge’s effort put the Motormen 4-1 up going into the final four minutes. But a late brace from Murat Kargul, made it a nervy finale for Dave Ross and joint-boss Ricky Eaton.

And in a way the fixtures have fallen at just the wrong time for the Oakside outfit as they face a Romford side on a six-game winning streak.

“Romford are on a great run and we are playing them at the wrong time really, they are in a rich vein of form,” said Ross.

“Their manager Paul Martin has done a great job and we know we are in for a battle.”

Redbridge are destined for a mid-table finish come the end of the season, and though in theory they have little left to play for, Ross insists they want to end the campaign on a high.

“We can’t get relegated and we can’t make the play-offs but everyone is still keen to get us as far up the table as possible,” he added.

“It would be nice if we could make the top 10, but that will be a big ask for us.”
