Motormen ready for final pre-season friendly
Redbridge could make it six wins out of seven pre-season games with victory over Hornchurch tonight, but manager Dave Ross already has one eye on Saturday’s Ryman League opener.
Premier Division Hornchurch should provide a stern test for Division One North Motormen at Oakside this evening, prior to their first league game of the season against Harlow Town.
But with forward Brian Moses already sidelined with a twisted ankle and Shane Wallace out with ligament damage in his shoulder, Ross is conscious of avoiding further injury.
“At the moment we’ve got quite a few injuries which have caused us quite a few problems, so we’re going to have to look at [the fitness of] some players tonight,” said the Redbridge joint boss.
“While it will be a nice test and a good game, both sides will be a little bit wary. It’s a matter of getting some match fitness into players really, as much as anything.”
Despite the manager’s injury and fitness concerns, he is optimistic of securing a victory to continue his side’s impressive run of form, as long as it doesn’t claim any further injuries to his players.
“We want to go out there and hopefully get something out of it, i.e. a win, but at the end of the day it’s just how we play. Hornchurch are a decent side and a nice test,” said Ross
“We’ve also got another one or two niggling injuries so we’ll be resting them tonight, but hopefully they’ll be fit for Saturday. Pre-season is great, but it can take its toll.”
