Ryman One North: Redbridge 2 Harlow Town 4
Harlow continued their impressive campaign with a hard-fought win over Redbridge at Oakside.
The visitors started very well and had a ball threaded down the right side, with the Redbridge defence stopping and calling for offside.
Their calls were not answered though and Junior Dadson rolled it across for former Redbridge striker Alex Read to slot home from close range.
The frustration did not end there as the Motormen could not get to grips with the match at all, and they were punished for the second time in the 25th minute.
Stanley Muguo nutmegged the defender and played in Read, who calmly tucked it past goalkeeper Dean Driscoll.
Read was clearly up for the contest and was denied a hat-trick minutes later when he hit a speculative volley straight at Driscoll.
But to the home fans surprise they would soon be back into the game. An attack down the left side led to a clearance that fell to Stephen Good, playing in midfield for the day, who hit a volley which flew sweetly into the bottom corner and the home side had a lifeline.
Moments later the unthinkable happened, a poor corner from the left was headed away straight to Emiel Aiken who struck a half volley straight past Dan Knowles and in to the top corner.
Redbridge had really grown in confidence and were finally stringing some passes together and Ben Bradbury was unlucky when he curled wide from the edge of the Harlow box.
Unfortunately after the teams came out from half time it was like déjà vu, as six minutes into the second half Harlow retook the lead.
A lovely round the corner flick allowed Dadson to burst away from the slow Redbridge defence and he smashed a left footed shot on to the post and in.
Unbelievably Redbridge were about to have a taste of their own medicine as Harlow were not done there and minutes later they doubled their advantage. A break from the left hand side led to a low cross falling to another former Redbridge man in the shape of Leon Antoine, who buried the shot past Driscoll and the game was out of Redbridge’s reach.
Despite this the hosts did come close in the 65th minute to reducing the arrears when Patrick Damali hit a cheeky lob from the edge of the area which bounced off the crossbar and over, but other than that little was created.
Harlow however, kept pushing for that fifth goal and came close, but Antoine was way too slow to take aim in the box after a good counter attack.
Redbridge: Driscoll, Bansende (L Thomas 79), Worrell, Smith, T Thomas, Good, Bradbury, Carlile (Dobson 89), Francis, Damali, Aiken (Thompson 54)
