Ryman Div 1N: Redbridge 1 Heybridge 1
Dean Driscoll’s late penalty save helped Redbridge earn a point against high-flying Heybridge at Oakside last night.
Driscoll denied Robbie King’s spot-kick in the closing minutes and also kept out a follow-up attempt as Motormen claimed a share of the spoils.
The visitors had taken the lead on 12 minutes through former Barking striker Dumebi GB-Dumaka, but Daniel Francis glanced a header wide for Redbridge.
The hosts had penalty claims waved away when Ben Bradbury went down in the box on 19 minutes before Kurt Smith replaced Daniel Charge.
Smith flashed a long-range effort wide on 39 minutes but found the net soon after with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box that beat Harrison at his near post.
Motormen went close to taking the lead before half time as Liam Thomas headed just wide from an Eljay Worrell corner.
And there were chances at either end after the restart for Heybridge’s Jamie Guy and Bradbury, before Dave Wareham saw a 53rd-minute header cleared off the line.
Stephen Good thought he had given Motormen the lead when heading in from a Thomas free kick but the goal was ruled out for offside.
And Heybridge were awarded a penalty with time almost up, but Driscoll came to the rescue to deny substitute King with a stunning double save.
After four successive matches at Oakside Redbridge begin a three-game road trip at Tilbury tomorrow, before visiting Dereham on Saturday and Maldon next Tuesday.
Redbridge: Driscoll, Worrell, L Thomas (D Smith), T Thomas, Good, Henty, Bradbury, Carlile, Charge (K Smith), Francis, Aiken.
Subs: Dobson, Adelekan, Thompson.
