It’s been a summer of change at Redbridge as former chairman Jimmy Chapman has taken over the reins once again following the departure of Imran Merchant.
Merchant took over last season, but has stepped aside for personal reasons, meaning Chapman returns as the chairman, having initially held the position of Club President last season.
And while there are changes at the top, joint managers Ricky Eaton and Dave Ross will remain in charge of first-team duties, though will be working with a reduced budget for the new season.
“Imran said he could not continue in the position for personal reasons so he’s had to step aside,” said Chapman.
“Dave and Ricky remain in charge of the first team but in terms of budget that will be down on last year.
“When I first held the position it was just the first team but we now have teams from under-14s right up to under-21s, with a reserve side as well.
“A couple of the youngsters got a chance towards the end of the last season and though it may take a little while for some to develop, the youngsters will be given the chance.”
On the pitch, the Motormen beat near neighbours Ilford 5-2 in a friendly on Tuesday night as they continue to rebuild their squad ahead of the new Ryman One North season.
And joint boss Dave Ross was pleased with the workout with goals scored by Brian Moses, Brad Hooper, Shane Wallace, Patrick Damali and Abs Thompson.
“It is always good to be scoring goals and all five were in the first half so that’s pleasing,” said Ross.
“It went reasonably well and we learnt a few things from the match so hopefully we can build on that.”
