Colin Walton has opted to leave the Foxes, with new manager almost in place
Colin Walton has resigned as manager of Ilford after a discussion with chairman Roger Chilvers on Tuesday.
Walton kept the Foxes in the Ryman One North for a third successive season, but after discussions about the budget for next season, Walton felt it was best to leave.
“It has been getting harder and harder every season and there wasn’t going to be an improvement in the budget so I thought it was best if I stepped aside,” said Walton.
“It’s one of, if not the lowest budget in the league and I feel I have taken them as far as I can.”
It is expected that Kevin Lucas, who has just stepped down at Essex Senior League side Enfield 1893, will take over in the hot seat.
