Although obviously disappointed by his side’s exit from this year’s FA Cup competition at the hands of AFC Sudbury last night (Tuesday), Redbridge boss Dave Ross still thought his players gave him 110 per cent.

“It was a bit similar to the first match really, we had the ideal start when Daniel Chambers scored after three minutes, but we let them back into the game again,” said Ross.

“The boys played well and gave me 110 per cent, but we got caught out on a corner and let them back into the game 20 minutes later as they equalised at the far post.”

However, nine minutes from half time, the visitors were back in front. “We went ahead again from a corner when Brian Moses header went in off their keeper, so it gave us the lead at the break.”

Redbridge had a chance to increase their lead when Joe Gent forced a fine save from point-blank range, before the home side pulled level.

“Once again they scored from a corner. It was more poor defending as we tried to play the ball out of danger instead of just clearing it,” said Ross.

With the match going into extra time, and after Redbridge going close in a goalmouth scramble, penalties seemed on the cards.

“We were walking wounded by then, but were already sorting out our penalty takers with a couple of minutes to go.

“But, we got punished as they caught us out with a header to snatch the tie,” said a disappointed Ross.
