Captain Callaway in call to arms
Barkingside captain Dan Callaway has called for his team to roll their sleeves up and bounce back from last week’s 4-1 defeat to Romford by getting some points on the board at Wroxham tonight (Tuesday).
The three-goal margin of defeat didn’t reflect the whole story for Side, but the skipper now feels they have to move on and pick themselves up.
He said: “We’ve got to roll our sleeves up. Maybe coming into the league, we showed a little bit of naivety at times doing wrong things at wrong times, but we’ve got to go again.
“We’ve got to get our heads up and push on.
“Don’t get me wrong the dressing room was devastated after the game, 4-1, local derby.
“We’ve had quite a few bad results so far this season but we’ve managed to bounce back on a few occasions and hopefully we can do that again.”
Barkingside will be getting a coach to Wroxham and the aim is to start sharply and not let the long journey affect them.
Without a win in six games, three points on Tuesday would be massive for Barkingside.
Callaway said: “Wroxham away, so it is a long old drive. We’ve got a coach journey there.
“Get the coach journey out of our legs and try and start sharp.
“We want to try and build and get into the game and try and get some points on the board, which is what we need to start doing.
“We started the season quite well, picking up quite a few points quite early.
“It just seems at the moment we are lacking a bit of momentum and we need to find it from somewhere.”
