Barkingside bounced back from their midweek disappointment at Cray to claim the Ryman One North points at Cricklefield.

Matt Frew’s men had to come from behind for success, though, after Joshua Fagbahon and Anthony Anstead netted two minutes apart midway through the first half for the visitors.

Dan Callaway replied for the home side on 56 minutes and Steve Carvell got them back on level terms just three minutes later.
Carvell struck again on 71 minutes to seal victory and give Barkingside a big boost for their Bank Holiday Monday trip to Heybridge tomorrow.

Boss Frew tweeted: “We were not at the races in the first half, but after a friendly little chat we showed what we are about #

BounceBack #togetherness #ontomonday.”

Rivals Redbridge endured another miserable day on the road as they slumped to a heavy defeat in Cambridgeshire.

Beaten 4-0 at Dereham a week earlier, Motormen fell behind after only 12 minutes at Soham Town as Joey Abbs netted for the hosts.

Ryan Sharman doubled Soham’s lead on 24 minutes, but Patrick Damali replied just before the break to give Redbridge renewed hope for the second half.

The scoreline remained unchanged until 69 minutes, when Sharman’s second put Soham 3-1 up.

And after Andres Gutierrez netted a fourth, Abbs sealed Soham’s 5-1 success in the final minute.

Redbridge, having beaten Burnham 4-3 on home turf last Tuesday, will look for another lift when they welcome Brentwood to Oakside tomorrow.

Essex Senior League

Sawbridgeworth 2 Ilford 3

Allan Fenn’s Ilford maintained their good start to the new Essex Senior League season with success at Sawbridgeworth.

The Foxes, despite defeats in the FA Cup and Gordon Brasted Trophy in their most recent outings, claimed the points thanks to goals from Chris Stevens, Olu Yobo and Eden Nelson to move up to fourth place with seven points from a possible nine.

Ilford are due to host Hullbridge Sports at Cricklefield Stadium on Wednesday.
