Barkingside manager Matt Frew is expecting a tough challenge as he takes his team to Norfolk to face Wroxham in Ryman One North tonight.

The Yachtsmen have made an encouraging start to the season accumulating 11 points from six games and remain unbeaten at home so far this campaign.

Side, however, have also started the new season strongly and sit eighth in the table, just one place below Wroxham, with 10 points from their opening six matches.

Frew expects a strong test this evening, but hopes his team can continue picking up points and adding to the confidence that is growing amongst his players.

“We are going to be struggling with a few players, but we will have a strong squad going up there,” he said.

“Wroxham are on the up so it will be a tough game. Both of us have different teams, they have a different management over there.

“A few people have told me they are a tough team this season. It is definitely going to be one of our toughest games.

“It is a long distance one and it is a long night, but the pitch is good. If we come away with a point I will be happy because it extends our run.

“We want to get a good consistent run going because if you keep winning, keep getting points on the board it instils confidence in the dressing room.”

Frew has been delighted with Side’s start to the season as they have progressed into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, as well as registering three league wins.

Barkingside have goals in abundance this season too, having found the net 17 times in their opening seven fixtures, and Frew is pleased to have goalscoring contributions from all over the pitch.

He added: “I couldn’t be happier with the start the boys have made this season and hopefully we can better our performances from last season (20th in Ryman One North).

“Last year we relied on two or three to score the goals, but we have goals from midfield, the left and right midfielders are getting goals, my defenders are getting goals because we have good height in the team.

“That is the beauty of this team. The team is capable of scoring from anywhere.”
