Blues benefit from indoor action

Barking boss Mick O’Shea will be preparing for his side’s Essex Senior League clash at Bethnal Green on Saturday as normal this week, writes Kirk Blows.

Blues were without a fixture last weekend, when the entire programme was wiped out by snow and frozen pitches.

But they are due to return to action at Mile End and have had the benefit of some indoor action at least.

O’Shea said: “The weather forecast isn’t good, but we’re still preparing for the game as normal.

“The good thing for us is that we’ve entered two teams into the Futsal League on Thursday evenings, alternating between the first team and the reserves, so we’re guaranteed some indoor training.

“One team pulled out of the league so we’ve actually got three teams entered now.

“It’s quite intensive and it ensures that the lads train for between 90 minutes and two hours, before enjoying the sauna and the facilities.

“We didn’t have a game scheduled last weekend and if we don’t play Bethnal Green on Saturday that means we’ll have not played for more than two weeks by the time we visit London APSA on January 31.

“But it’s the same for everybody and the fact we’re still training means we’re not sitting about twiddling our thumbs.”
