Scott Malone is confident going into the Lions’ Capital One Cup game
Millwall full back Scott Malone has described their pre-season friendly defeat to Crawley as a false result.
The Red Devils beat the Lions at Broadfield Stadium by two goals to nil in a warm-up match going into the new season and face each other again in the Capital One Cup first round at The Den.
“These friendlies are a bit false to be honest,” Malone told London24.
“You saw in some of the other games, the Premier League teams losing to the Championship teams [exemplified by Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton].
“They tend to favour the underdog.
“I think it will be different when they come down here on Tuesday.”
The former Bournemouth man is relieved he will be having The Den crowd on his side, rather than against him.
“I came here three years on a Tuesday night and it was pretty hostile,” Malone told London24. “I didn’t like it.
“Hopefully this time it’ll be a bit different.”
