Nine hurlers from Thomas McCurtains represented East London at the Pride of Dublin Town hurling tournament.

Callum Redmond, Ryan Tattan, Liam O’Brien, Nial Lawlor, Aiden Maloney, Morgan Cooper, Seanie O’ Regan, Daniel Moran and Albert O’Mahoney competed in the 12-14-year-old Elite East London side.

While the London team did not win the competition, they opened up with a victory and in torrential rain they just lost out in a close tie to the eventual division winners.

Meanwhile, in other events, it was a mixed weekend for McCurtains. The under-14 team secured the league title at the weekend and were hoping to add the championship title yesterday (Tuesday) when they faced Tara in the County final in Ruislip.

The ladies team defeated Tara in a double-header on Saturday in Wormwood Scrubs which sees them through to the Championship and Tom O’Connor Cup final.

A win against the same opposition this weekend in Goodmayes will also see the ladies through to the league decider.

Sadly, it was a bad day for the men’s footballers as they were defeated by Tir Chonaill Gaels in the first round of the Junior championship and now need to win their next two games to progress to the semi-finals.
