West Ham girls bridge two-year age gap to win runner-up trophies
West Ham Ladies under-12s got pre-season under way with a strong performance playing up two age levels at under-14 level in the Trinity FC tournament.
The newly-formed side finished runners up in their league remaining unbeaten and not conceding a single goal.
That sent them into the runners-up final against last season’s under-12s champions LOASS and in a hard fought game Hammers came out victorious with a 2-0 win.
In all five games some good passing football was played and an outstanding goalkeeping display from Zoe Martin, in the early stages kept the Hammers in the competition.
The scorers were Kelly Whealthall with five, while Mia Sealey, Shannan Drewe, Maddie O’Conner, Tessa O’Conner and Hannah Landen also netted.
A strong defensive performance was also the basis of their tournament success with Grace Lane, Megan Magee, Ria Zahra and Sophie Kelly all contributing.
