Team GB’s success has been the topic of conversation at The Den
The motto of the London 2012 Olympics is ‘Inspire a Generataion’ and Millwall manager Kenny Jackett hopes it does just that with the Lions’ class of 2012/13.
Team GB’s gold rushes have been the subject of conversation at their south London training ground and the manager believes there might be something to gain from seeing the likes of Mo Farah, Sir Chris Hoy, Jessica Ennis and others win gold.
“The Games have been fantastic,” Jackett said. It’s been fantastic to have it in London.
“It’s been very exciting. It does help that the GB team are competing for medals. It’s helped for the spectacle.”
“We’ll see if it inspires our players.
“It’s been a topic of conversation recently.
“It’s been inspiring and if it inspires our players over the next few weeks that’ll be fantastic.”
Much was made of the potential travel chaos the Games would cause, but it appears that the Millwall squad have not been affected.
“It wasn’t too bad,” the manager explained.
“We were never sure exactly what was going to happen.
“Everyone’s on the train or staying out of London.
“It’s been okay, getting to training.
“We had a pre-season friendly at Southend and there were no problems travelling there or back.”
