Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has revealed that Jose Baxter, the young striker recently released by Everton, is training with the Selhurst Park outfit with a view to a possible transfer.

Baxter, 20, has represented England at U17 level and spent last season on loan at League One side Tranmere Rovers, where he scored three goals in 14 appearances.

“He’s a player that we’re interested in,” Freedman told South London Today.

“Jose has got a few other offers but we have struck up a good relationship and he is going to train with us for the next few weeks and get fit.

“Then there will be a decision in the next few weeks about what he is going to do.”
