Medy Elito bagged a both goals in a 2-0 win over Macclesfield Town on Saturday to leave Dagenham & Redbridge within a point of League Two safety.

Elito opened the scoring in the first half and netted again in second-half stoppage time to seal the vital victory.

But he admitted the outcome was far less straightforward than it might have been, after numerous chances went begging.

“We had about 18 chances to put the game away, but sometimes these things happen in football,” said Elito.

“Sometimes if you don’t score goals teams come back and bite you.

“But we got the two goals and we won and got the three points. It was important because we need these points to stay up.”
