Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still will have to let players leave Victoria Road if he wants to bring anyone in to the club.

If Daggers want to bring anyone in during the January transfer window then they’ll have to move players on according to manager John Still.

The club has raised cash from the permanent sale of striker Dwight Gayle to Championship side Peterborough for £470,000, but if the Victoria Road boss wants to add to his squad, others will have to go.

“There may be one or two changes, but with the greatest of respect I don’t think we’ll have anyone coming in,” said Still after the 3-1 defeat to Northampton Town.

“Even though Dwight is going I don’t think financially we are in a position to be able to strengthen.”

Daggers currently have two loan signings in their squad – youngsters Jake Caprice and Josh Wakefield from Blackpool and AFC Bournemouth respectively.

And Still believes that it would have to be another similar deal if they do bring anyone to Victoria Road this month.

“But as we have shown with bringing Jake Caprice and Josh Wakefield in, they are young players on very low wages,” he added.

“We are not going to go and get an experienced player because financially that’s not within our scope so we’ll have to look around and see what we can do with what we have got.

“And if we can manage to make one or two things happen with players going out there may be a chance of someone coming in, but we’ll have to have a look at it.”
