A 9am pitch inspection will take place at Rodney Parade tomorrow to determine whether Dagenham & Redbridge’s League Two game with Newport County will go ahead.
The squad have already travelled to Wales today in order to prepare for the encounter with the Exiles, but the South Wales Argus, the local paper for Newport County, understands there is already surface water on the Rodney Parade pitch.
The match referee has also already travelled, and will check the playing surface in the morning.
A statement on the Newport County club website read: “After severe over night rain on Thursday and due to the fact that Dagenham & Redbridge are travelling overnight, Newport County AFC took the precaution of calling the Football League this morning.
“The Football League ordered a preliminary pitch inspection on Friday afternoon by Football League referee Keith Lawson. He reported back to the FL who have instructed the match referee to conduct a pitch inspection at 9am on Saturday morning.
