Daggers skipper Abu Ogogo is pleased to finally be playing regularly in the position he prefers - central midfield.
The former Arsenal youngster has featured in that position in every game so far this season, but the last campaign saw him switch between midfield and right back on a regular basis.
But now, with the sqaud number of eight as well to boot, he is relieved to have settled in at the heart of the Daggers midfield.
“Everyone knows where I want to play and where I feel I play best,” said Ogogo after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Newport County.
“Before I was playing a couple of games right-back, and then another couple in midfield, but I feel like I am playing well, I scored today and hopefully I can carry on.”
Ogogo had a habit of finding the wrong net last season, scoring three own goals throughout the 2012-13 campaign, but on Saturday he managed to score at the right end this time to convert Gavin Hoyte’s 59th-minute delivery and ensure a share of the spoils.
And though he didn’t know too much about it he was pleased to make the vital contribution.
“I know Gavin’s deliveries are good so I just made a run to the middle of the goal and I thought Luke Howell would get a touch but he didn’t,” added Ogogo.
“It just came at the right time, hit my knee and went in the bottom corner but I’ll take that. Any goal is a good goal.”
The 23-year-old was also pleased with their recovery from a bad first half to pick up a point from the match against the Welsh outfit.
“I think that was a fair result,” he said.
“They were a better team than us first half, but in the second we were better. We came out in the second half, put in an improved performance and had the better chances. If we play badly we need to pick up something and we did that today.”
