Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett insists it would take a “very good offer” for any club to prise Rhys Murphy or Zavon Hines away from Victoria Road.

Both players have excelled since joining the club in the summer, with Murphy Daggers’ top goalscorer in League Two with 11 goals to date, while Hines has combined goals and assists to earn rave reviews and Burnett believes it is only natural that there is speculation linking them with a move away.

“I think that we don’t want to lose anyone in this team, but with the likes of Zavon and Rhys they are always going to attract attention for what they have done so far,” said Burnett.

“There is always going to be speculation and all credit to them for what they have done so far, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Burnett doesn’t want to lose any of his top players, and hasn’t sat down with the board yet to discuss the January plans.

However, he does feel the Daggers have one or two things in their favour should clubs from a higher level come in for any of their players.

“I haven’t discussed it with the board yet about whether any player will have to go, but as far as I am concerned they are our players and until someone does come in for them then we’ll have to deal with it,” he added.

“But they are both in good places and they are both playing regularly and getting games. I feel it would take a very good offer from a team at a higher level to get them away.”

In terms of new arrivals, Burnett would like to add two players to his squad, a midfielder and a striker, but admits it will be a case of offloading players before he can bring anyone in.

“We are in the process of looking at players and we’d like to get one or two in but the finances are tight,” said Burnett.

“But we are looking to get one or two out as well. They would have to leave before we could bring anyone in.”
