Daggers boss Wayne Burnett was waiting to find out the full extent of the injury picked up by new striker Christian Doidge at Hartlepool United on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old was on the bench for the Victoria Park match, having received his international clearance earlier that day.
However, in the pre-match warm-up the striker felt a little bit of pain from his ankle, and therefore wasn’t used by the Daggers.
Burnett was hopeful the injury wasn’t too serious and the striker will be assessed today at training.
“Christian had a little bit of trouble at the top of his ankle in the warm-up before Tuesday’s game,” said Burnett.
“We had to shuffle things around at Hartlepool but hopefully it isn’t too bad and he can be involved at the weekend, but we’ll have to wait and see when we are back in for training.”
Defender Damian Batt could well return to training today as well following his adductor problem, which has meant he’s missed the trips to Burton Albion and Hartlepool United.
But Burnett wasn’t sure whether he’d recover fully enough to feature at the weekend against Mansfield Town.
“He might be in for Saturday,” he added. “We’ll have a much better idea when we get him back in for training.
“He’s progressing well and he’ll have to train either Thursday or Friday to have a chance for the weekend, but he should definitely be right for the following weekend.”
