Essex Senior Cup third round: Dagenham & Redbridge 3 Romford 0
Daggers cruised into the fourth round of the Essex Senior Cup at the expense of Ryman One North outfit Romford.
Wayne Burnett started a strong side against Boro, including Femi Ilesanmi as skipper, while Sean Shields, Chris Dickson, Josh Scott and Brian Woodall also got the chance to impress.
After a slow start, Josh Scott headed wide following Nathan Ferguson’s free-kick into the back post.
Scott then saw an effort cleared off the line, before Eddie Hart missed a great chance up the other end when one-on-one with Daggers keeper Lloyd Anderson.
However the Daggers took the lead when some nice play from Shields down the right saw him cut inside and pull the ball back for Dickson to finish with aplomb.
Anderson was tested late in the half as he palmed George Woodward’s fierce effort behind, but the second half was equally slow to get going in front of the 341 strong crowd.
And with the first real chance of any note, Daggers doubled their lead when Bradley Goldberg, on loan to Conference South side Bromley, curled a lovely effort into the top corner from 22 yards out to effectively seal the victory.
Ian Gayle almost made it three after getting on the end of Nathan Ferguson inswinging corner, but his header came back off the crossbar, before Dickson added a second with a neat finish from the edge of the area to complete a comfortable victory.
