Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still knows his team have to eradicate silly errors.

Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still feels his side cannot continue to contribute to their own downfall any further as they prepare to take on high-flying Fleetwood Town today.

Still was disappointed by his side’s inability to defend at times in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Burton Albion and knows there can be no repeat performance if they want to pick up three points against the Cod Army at Victoria Road on Saturday.

“I felt that we handed them the game with a couple of errors from ourselves,” said Still on the loss at Burton.

“For long periods we weren’t under any pressure and those mistakes that we made were very avoidable.

“There was some naïve defending from us at times. I am very frustrated and very disappointed and I think we were a team getting back to where we have been over the years.

“We want to attack and want to score, but we have to defend better than that. For most of the season we have been scoring goals for fun, and if we had kept them quiet for 15-20 minutes of the second half it could have been altogether different.

“Fleetwood are the big spenders in the league so they’ll be an interesting side to come up against. But it is these sides that you look forward to facing and it will show us where we are.”

Despite the disappointment it is only two losses in the last 11 league games for the Daggers and looking at the bigger picture the Victoria Road chief is more than happy with how things have gone so far this season.

“I am well pleased if I am honest, we have been coming on really well,” he added.

“It is a bit disappointing though that we contributed to our downfall on Saturday.”

Going into the home tie against Fleetwood, Still has a fully fit squad to choose from for one of the first times this season, apart from striker Dwight Gayle after his loan switch to Peterborough United.
