Dagenham & Redbridge have re-signed right back Damian Batt on a two-year deal and boss Wayne Burnett believes his experience will prove crucial for the club next season.
The 29-year-old had retired from the full-time professional game back last year having left League Two rivals Oxford United to focus on his businesses away from football.
But he quickly linked up with Conference South side Eastleigh and helped them to promotion last season.
Damien, like his brother Shaun, spent a short period with the Daggers earlier in his career and has spent time with current boss Wayne Burnett when he was in charge at then Conference Premier club Grays Athletic- before he moved to Oxford.
Batt represented the U’s on 177 occasions, helping them back into the Football League in 2010 via the play-off, replicating the achievement he did with Barnet back in 2005.
Daggers are now getting a much more experienced player, and Burnett hopes he can play a big part, having been resigned to losing out of contract right back Gavin Hoyte.
“Damien played for me at Grays and he has plenty of experience under his belt now with over 160 league games for Oxford,” said Burnett.
“He knows this level well and he is technically very gifted and hopefully he’ll be turn out to be a good signing for us.”
