The testing conditions on Saturday just added to the drama as Dagenham & Redbridge came back from 3-0 down to pick up a point against Scunthorpe United.
At 3-2 and 84 minutes on the clock, referee Darren Bond pulled the players off due to thunder, lightning, rain and gusting winds.
But new loan signing Luke Norris made sure it was a debut to remember with a goal two minutes from time as Daggers rescued a point against league leaders Scunthorpe United.
And the whole game was a new experience for Daggers skipper Abu Ogogo, who started the comeback with another fine strike – making it eight goals for the season.
“It was a great comeback, I thought we played well in the first half despite going 1-0 down when we conceded a bad goal,” he said.
“But at home, losing to the team that is top of the table to come back and draw 3-3 is a great result.
“I thought the scoreline was a it harsh with us 3-0 down and it wasn’t that type of our game but we showed great character and belief to get back into the game.”
Conditions were difficult for everyone, but Ogogo felt the referee made the right decision, despite Daggers being in the ascendancy at the time.
Ogogo added: “I’ve never played in anything like that before but I thought the referee made the right decision to bring the game to a halt with the lightning and we couldn’t really see anything.
“I feel it was the right decision but I was just pleased that we came back out and continued the game.
“The stoppage to the game was probably good for them and bad for us because we were on top at the time. In an ideal world we would have liked to continue but the conditions were bad.
“Thankfully we came back out though and scored a goal to get the point, I thought it was what we deserved.”
It’s been a remarkable season in front of goal, and even the success the skipper has had is a surprise to himself.
“It was a good strike so it was pleasing to get in the goals again but from then on I feel we pushed on and we maybe should have won the game,” he remarked.
“It’s going well for me this season and I didn’t expect to be on as many goals as I have but I’m just happy to be playing a part.
