Dagenham & Redbridge assistant manager Terry Harris felt they deserved another spot kick in 1-1 draw with Exeter City.
Michael Spillane’s missed penalty proved costly for the Daggers as they had to settle for a point against Exeter on Tuesday night.
Medy Elito, the scorer of Dagenham’s goal earlier in the first half, was brought down in the area by Grecians goalkeeper Artur Krysiak but Spillane fired the spot-kick over.
That would have given them a 2-0 lead at the break but it wasn’t to be and the visitors grabbed a point when Jamie Cureton fired home his 10th goal of the season five minutes after the break.
But assistant manager Terry Harris felt they had good claims for a second when Dwight Gayle was brought down by Craig Woodman late on.
“I thought it was a penalty if I am honest,” said Harris. “He has got in front of his man and been pulled down. But the referee had already given us one and it doesn’t happen very often that you get two in one game.”
The diminutive forward seems to be getting a reputation after being booked for a supposed dive at Cheltenham on the opening day of the season and was also involved in a penalty appeal in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at York which was turned down.
