It may well be Bradford’s homecoming after their trip to Wembley for the Carling Cup final but new interim boss Wayne Burnett hopes the large crowd will see a Daggers performance which sees them come back with three points.

The Bantams may have lost out 5-0 to Premier League Swansea City on Sunday but getting to the final was a great achievement for a League Two side.

But Burnett, put in charge after John Still’s departure yesterday, believes his side can rise to the occasion despite all the upheaval at Daggers.

“It’s all come about very quickly after Monday night’s meeting and we trained today (Tuesday) but it’s very little time for us to prepare with all what has been going on,” said Burnett.

“It’s difficult and it would be harsh to make wholesale changes straight away due to the timescale it’s all happened in. The players know their jobs and they’ll give me everything as they are a really good group of players.

“Any game in this league isn’t going to be easy but it’s a fantastic opportunity. The crowd will all be there to welcome home their cup finalists and that is a fantastic achievement for a League Two club.”

The Daggers have no injury concerns going into the tie but results last night saw the gap between them in 16th and the drop zone reduced to five points.

“It’s a fantastic trip and it gets tougher for us but what better way to express yourself than in front of a big crowd at Bradford?” added Burnett.

“We have a habit of doing well there, they’ll receive a warm welcome from the fans with it being the first came since the cup final but I am here to win football matches.”
