Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett insists star striker Rhys Murphy won’t let speculation get to him, as the Daggers prepare for their trip to Newport County tomorrow.
The 23-year-old is continually linked with a move away from Victoria Road, but no offers have yet been received for the former Arsenal youngster
And even if any offer does come in for the 12-goal man, Burnett insists it’ll have to be right for both the player and club.
“He’s quite a level-headed guy, he’s getting on with it,” said Burnett. “He is a footballer who loves playing and you can see that in his play. He’s happy at the moment and that’s important, but I don’t think he’s motivated by money.
“It would have to be the right move for him if one is to come about, and also right for the club otherwise he’ll remain a Dagenham player and I hope he does.”
Burnett added: “There’s been lots of speculation but we haven’t had one offer from another football club so while that’s happening he is still our player and he’s a level headed kid. We’ve kept him informed of what is going on and said to him if anything changes we’ll let you know.”
