Dagenham & Redbridge have completed the signing of Jamie Cureton on a one-year deal.
The striker has signed a one-year deal with the Victoria Road side after impressing in several pre-season friendlies for Wayne Burnett’s side.
A deal had initially looked slim after League Two rivals Cheltenham Town, where Cureton was playing last season, offered him a new deal at Whaddon Road.
But nothing ever materialised of that potential move, and the striker put pen to paper on the deal with the Daggers.
The move now means the experienced frontman – who has scored over 250 goals in his 21-year career to date and he has taken in a number of clubs over that time, including Bristol Rovers, where he formed a partnership with Jason Roberts, Reading, Colchester United and Norwich City – can reside at the family home in Harlow.
His signature adds plenty of experience to the side and he becomes the ninth signing of the summer for Burnett, following the arrivals of Mark Cousins, Liam O’Brien, Ashley Chambers, Damian Batt, Nathan Green, Joss Labadie, Matt Partridge and Frankie Raymond.
On the signing, Burnett said: “I am delighted to bring in someone of Jamie’s experience.
“He is enjoying a great career and though he may not be able to play all 46 league games in the season he will be a vital part of our team.
“The family home is local as well and I am sure that has played a part in his decision as well, and he definitely enhances the group we already have at the club.”
